The YMHC Leadership Fellows Program is where members ready to lead take the next step. Fellows help build the program itself, grow their own career vision, and represent the Corps on a national stage.
Meet Our Leadership Fellows
The 2024-25 Leadership Fellows were a group of dedicated YMHC members who are not only serving youth in schools and communities across the country, but also preparing to take the next step in their own professional journeys.
What You’ll Do
As a Leadership Fellow, you’ll help shape YMHC while shaping your own path:
Build a youth-driven network
- Connect with fellows across the country to share resources and experiences and build relationships that last.
Drive continuous improvement
- Give ongoing feedback through surveys and group reflection, and help adapt the program so it stays relevant and responsive.
Grow professionally
- Help identify development opportunities and take part in trainings that support a career in behavioral health.
Co-design the program
- Help set the format and structure of the Fellowship and brainstorm activities for fellows’ personal and professional growth.
Complete a Career Vision Project
- Map a career path aligned with your goals, values, interests, and the life you want.

Qualifications
The Fellowship is a fit for members who are:
Passionate about social change, mental health advocacy, and youth empowerment
Strong communicators, organizers, and leaders
Strong collaborators with other fellows and with staff
Application Process
Fellows are nominated each year through their state, on this timeline:
Sept 15–28
Interested members are nominated by their program or host-site supervisor. If you’re interested, let your supervisor know you’d like to be nominated.
Sept 28–Oct 9
Each state service commission selects two members to represent the state, and shares those nominations with Engagement Manager Inesha Williams and the Peer Health Exchange (PHE) team.
Oct 19–23
Selected members are notified by Inesha Williams and the PHE team and offered official acceptance into the program.
